DJ HARD HITTIN HARRY present FIRST SATURDAYS BROOKLYN MUSEUM MIX

Sak Pase Mes Ami (My Friends),

Hope all is well! I arrived in Brooklyn at 3 years old with my parents from Port-au-Prince, Haiti where I was born. I lived on Eastern Parkway and then moved to East 96th Street. This mix is a tribute to HAITI however it is also a celebration of ALL CARIBBEAN PEOPLE.

Being raised in Brooklyn, Montreal, Canada, and New Jersey, I always held a special place in my heart for Brooklyn because of the fact that this was the very first place that I came to directly from Haiti. I always felt safe... and at ease due to the immense West Indian population here (especially Haitians of course). Can you imagine as a youngster my joy & pride seeing the West Indian Parade actually LIVING on Eastern Parkway?

Brooklyn is my current state of residence however, Haiti will always be my HOME. Never in my life would I ever think that I would be deejaying the Brooklyn Museum. It is something that I truly think I will never forget and similar to a lifetime achievement.

On Saturday August 7th we celebrated the spirit and the people of Haiti.

We will never forget the Haiti earthquake.

We will never forget the victims and the survivors.

We will re-build...we will be stronger...we will be better.

DJ HARD HITTIN HARRY presents TRIBUTE TO GANGSTARR (R.I.P. GURU)

On Monday April 19,2010, Keith "GURU" Elam passed away due to cancer and has gone on to a better life. As a founding member of Gangstarr featuring producer DJ Premier, Guru delivered vocals for classic albums like No More Mr. Nice Guy (1989), Step in the Arena (1991), Daily Operation (1992), Hard to Earn (1994), Moment of Truth (1998) and The Ownerz (2003). Guru rhymed over 160 of DJ Premier’s productions throughout the course of his career, before launching his own record label 7 Grand in 2004 to continue releasing his legendary series of Jazzmatazz albums.

Get ready to turn it up nice and loud...this is my tribute to one of my most favorite Hiphop groups of all-time...GANGSTARR. Rest In Peace and Power to Keith Elam b.k.a. GURU. You will be missed but never forgotten. Your trademark monotone voice will live forever through your music.
